We recently took the Ozark Trail 12-Person Instant Cabin Tent on a camping trip to Sunset State Beach, and overall, the experience was a mix of excitement, laughs, and a little surprise

🛠️ Setup Experience:

This tent is advertised as an “instant cabin” with a two-minute setup—and I believe it! While it took us a bit longer the first time, that was only because we were being careful with the poles. Once we got the hang of how they lock into place, setup was smooth and easy. It really is beginner-friendly for such a large tent.

🤦‍♂️ The Surprise:

The biggest issue? No rainfly in the box. We didn’t notice until we were almost done setting up. You’ll catch the moment in our video—we actually tried to use the removable dividers as makeshift rainflies before realizing what had happened. It was hilarious in hindsight but definitely unexpected.

🌌 The Silver Lining:

Without the rainfly, we ended up falling asleep under a sky full of stars. My son pointed out a string of bright lights moving across the sky, which turned out to be Starlink satellites—a magical moment we wouldn’t have had otherwise. It made the trip extra special, and we’ll always remember that night.

🔁 Final Verdict:

We did return the tent since we’ll need a full setup (including the rainfly) for winter camping. But other than that, the tent was solid, spacious, and very easy to work with. Once you know the system, I truly believe you can set it up in under two minutes.
